January 1: Genesis 1-3

Genesis 1:27 & 31: “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him. . . . and God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.”

January 2: Genesis 4-7

Genesis 4:7: “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?  But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”

January 3: Genesis 8-11

Gen. 9:16: “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”           

January 4: Job 1-5

Job 22:21-22:  “Submit to God and be at peace with Him; in this way prosperity will come to you.  Accept instruction from His mouth and lay up His words in your heart.”

January 10: Job 24-28

Job 26:14:  “[Creation] is but the outer fringe of His works; how faint the whisper we hear of Him!  Who then can understand the thunder of His power?”

January 11: Job 29-31

Job 29:11, 14: “Whoever heard me spoke well of me, and those who saw me commended me.  I put on righteousness as my clothing; justice was my robe and my turban.”

January 12: Job 32-34

Job 33:14:  “For God does speak—now one way, now another—though man may not perceive it.”

January 13: Job 35-37

Job 37:5: “God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; He does great things beyond our understanding.”

January 14: Job 38-39

Job 38:4 & 6-7: “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? [I] laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy.”

January 15: Job 40-42

Job 42: 2 & 5: “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted. . . . My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.”                                     

January 16: Genesis 12-15

Genesis 15:1:  “[And the Lord said] ‘Do not be afraid. . . .  I am your shield, your very great reward.”

January 17: Genesis 16-18

Genesis 16:13: “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me.’”

January 18: Genesis 19-21

Genesis 21:1 & 6: “Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as He had said and did for her what He had promised. . . .  Sarah said, ‘God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.’”

January 19: Genesis 22-24

Genesis 24:26-27: “Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord, saying ‘Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master, who has not abandoned His kindness and faithfulness.’”

January 20: Genesis 25-26

Genesis 26:24:  “I am the God of your father Abraham.  Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”  

January 21: Genesis 27-29

Genesis 28:16-17: “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it. . . .  How awesome is this place!  This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”

January 22: Genesis 30-31

Genesis 31:42:  “If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, you would surely have sent me away empty-handed.  But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands.”

January 23: Genesis 32-34

Genesis 33:10-11:  “To see your face is like seeing the face of God. . . .  God has been gracious to me and I have all I need.”

January 24: Genesis 35-37

Genesis 35:2:  “Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, ‘Purify yourselves. . . .  Then come, let us go up and build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.”

January 25: Genesis 38-40

Genesis 39:21:  “The Lord was with him; He showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes [of those around him].”

January 26: Genesis 41-42

Genesis 41:38:  “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?”

January 27: Genesis 43-45

Genesis 45:7-8:  “God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.  So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.”

January 28: Genesis 46-47

Genesis 47:31: “Israel worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.”

January 29: Genesis 48-50

Genesis 50:19-20:  “Don’t be afraid.  Am I in the place of God?  You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

January 30: Exodus 1-3

Exodus 3:14-15:  “God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM. . . .  This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.’”

January 31: Exodus 4-6

Exodus 4:31:  “When [the Israelites] heard that the Lord was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.”
