November                                                                 (Previous)      (Next)

November 1: Matthew 20-21

Matthew 20:26-28:  “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

November 2: Luke 18:15-19:48

Luke 18:16-17:  “Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’”

November 3: Mark 11; John 12

John 12:44-46:  “When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.  When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me.  I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”

November 4: Matthew 22; Mark 12

Matthew 22:37-40:  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

November 5: Matthew 23; Luke 20-21

Matthew 23:37 & 39:  “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. . . .  You will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

November 6: Mark 13

Mark 13:32-33: “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.  Be on guard!  Be alert!  You do not know when that time will come.”

November 7: Matthew 24

Matthew 24:42 & 44:  “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.  So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

November 8: Matthew 25

Matthew 25:34-35 & 40:  “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. . . .  Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

November 9: Matthew 26; Mark 14

Matthew 26:26-28:  “Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat; this is my body.’  Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you.  This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.’”

November 10: Luke 22; John 13

John 13: 14-15:  “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.  I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.  I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.”

November 11: John 14-17

John 14:5-6:  “Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’  Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

November 12: Matthew 27; Mark 15

Mark 15:37-38:  “With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.  The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.  And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, ‘Surely this man was the Son of God!’”

November 13: Luke 23; John 18-19

John 19:36-37:  “These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: ‘Not one of his bones will be broken,’ and, as another scripture says, ‘They will look on the one they have pierced.’”

November 14: Matthew 28; Mark 16

Matthew 28:18-20:  “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.   And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.”

November 15: Luke 24; John 20-21

John 20:30-31:  “Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.  But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

November 16: Acts 1-3

Acts 2:1-2 & 4:  “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.  Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. . . .  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. . . .”

November 17: Acts 4-6

Acts 4:32-33:  “All the believers were one in heart and mind.  No on claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.  With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.”

November 18: Acts 7-8

Acts 7:51-52: “You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears!  You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!  They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One.  And now you have betrayed and murdered him.”

November 19: Acts 9-10

Acts 10: 34-35:  “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from among every nation who fear him and do what is right.”

November 20: Acts 11-12

Acts 11:23: “When [Barnabas] arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.  He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.”

November 21: Acts 13-14

Acts 13:32-33 & 38:  “We tell you the good news: What God promised our fathers he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. . . .  Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.”

November 22: James

James 2: 18-19:  “Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.  You believe that there is one God.  Good!  Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”

November 23: Acts 15-16

Acts 15: 9-10:  “God made no distinction between us [Jews] and [the gentiles], for he purified their hearts by faith.  Why do you test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?  No!  We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

November 24: Galatians 1-3

Galatians 2: 20-21:  “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

November 25: Galatians 4-6

Galatians 6:9-10:  “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

November 26: Acts 17-18:18

Acts 18:9-10:  “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent.  For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.”

November 27: 1 & 2 Thessalonians

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 & 21:  “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  Test everything.  Hold on to the good.  Avoid every kind of evil.”

November 28: Acts 18:19-19:41

Acts 18:4-5:  “‘John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance.  He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.’  On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.”

November 29: 1 Corinthians 1-4

1 Corinthians 3:10-11:  “By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it.  But each one should be careful how he builds.  For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

November 30: 1 Corinthians 5-8

1 Corinthians 8:9 & 13: “Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.  Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to fall.”
