May 2: Psalm 106

Psalm 106:1-2:  “Praise the Lord.  Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.  Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord or fully declare his praise?”

May 3: Psalm 107 & 133

Psalm 133:1 & 3:  “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! . . .  For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.”

Psalm 100:3:  “Know that the Lord is God.  It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”

May 7: 2 Samuel 7; 1 Chronicles 17

2 Samuel 7:22 & 28:  “How great you are, O Sovereign Lord!  There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. . . .  O Sovereign Lord, you are God!  Your words are trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.”

Psalm 36:5-7:  “Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.  Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. . . .  How priceless is your unfailing love!”

Psalm 29: 3 & 9:  “The voice of the Lord is over all the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. . . .  The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare.  And in his temple all cry, “Glory.”

Psalm 50: 1-3:  “The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets.  From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.  Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.”

Psalm 20: 4-5:  “May [the Lord] give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.  We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners and in the name of our God.  May the Lord grant all your requests. . . .”

Psalm 65: 5 & 8:  “You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas. . . .  Those living far away fear your wonders; where morning dawns and evening fades you call forth songs of joy.”

May 13: 2 Samuel 11-12; 1 Chronicles 20

2 Samuel 12:22:  “Then [David] answered, ‘While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept.  I thought, Who knows?  The Lord may be gracious to me and let the child live.  But now that he is dead, why should I fast?  Can I bring him back again?’”

2 Samuel 14:14:  “Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die.  But God does not take away life; instead he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.”

Psalm 28:6-7:  “Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy.  The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.  My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.”

Psalm 40:5:  “Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done.  The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.”

Psalm 57:1-2:  “Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge.  I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.  I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills his purpose for me.”

Psalm 99:2-5: “Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.  Let them praise your great and awesome name—he is holy.  The King is mighty, he loves justice. . . .  Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.”

Psalm 30: 11-12:  “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.  O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.”

Psalm 108:3-4:  “I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.  For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.”

Psalm 131:1-2:  “My heart is not proud, O Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.  But I have stilled and quieted my soul.”

Psalm 145:13-14 & 16:  “The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.  The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. . . .  You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.”

Psalm 127:1-2:  “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain.  Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.  In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves.”

Psalm 111:2-4:  “Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.  Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever.  He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate.”

Psalm 94:18-19:  “When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ your love, O Lord, supported me.  When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.”

Psalm 119:9-11:  “How can a young man keep his way pure?  By living according to your word.  I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.  I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
