Major Gifts Officer (posted 4/22/2025)
Word FM has a job opening for a part-time major gifts officer in the Harleysville, PA, office who will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors for Word FM and Great Songs of the Faith. They will also provide development assistance with our business underwriters, PSA underwriters, and annual campaign efforts.
General Responsibilities
- Responsible for requesting major gifts of $5,000-$25,000+ from donors and Word FM friends.
- Manage relationships with approximately 50-75 donors and prospective donors.
- Work collaboratively with the executive director to engage groups of potential donors by affinity (i.e., businesses, churches, donors, etc.).
- Work collaboratively with the current Word FM staff and leverage them when it makes sense with a donor.
- Visit an average of 15 donors and donor prospects per month. (Travel required)
- Arrange individual appointments for the leadership of Word FM with a donor, when appropriate.
- Provide feedback for advancement strategies, goals, and plans and be active in helping to set the annual development budget with the executive director.
- Handle travel arrangements according to budget guidelines as necessary to visit donors and donor prospects.
- Perform other duties within the development team that support the annual budget.
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communication, pastoral, or leadership.
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills that are consistently above average and high emotional intelligence acumen.
- Should demonstrate independent working skills by being self-motivated.
- Being flexible in all work-related areas.
- Three-plus years of fundraising experience/leadership.
- A proven understanding of the essential components of advancement work and development officer functions.
- The ability to communicate the mission and vision of Word FM.
- Proven organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines, set and manage expectations, and translate goals into achievable steps.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A basic understanding of fundraising database software and data management.
- Strong Christian faith, commitment and volunteer service experience.
